WEDNESDAY RIDE

Some time ago,I did organise Wednesday Rides for a few of us who are not working regular days/hours and a few who have retired.I belong to the group of self employed and we have the options to choose what day not to work. Many of us are at times busy during weekends,so we need a day during weekdays to peddle our bicycles.

Yesterday,Elana requested me to join her cycling around Putrajaya Core Island.I accepted her invitation and three more riders joined us.Here are some photos that I managed to snap and share here.

My lesson on selfie along the route..

We parked our cars at Putrajaya Lake Club and later had our brunch here. Here is my Brompton sitting pretty with someone's Bentley who was having breakfast at the club. Both are British by design but I can only afford the one with two wheels.May be,the four wheels one is only in my dreams..

PCC:Raya Ride

I am very happy today that 40 riders came to Ayer@8,Putrajaya to ride our celebration of Hari Raya Puasa.Attendance is 50/50 Malays and Chinese Malaysians.Let me thank my non-muslims friends who joined us in this ride. This is the spirit exhibited by ordinary Malaysians. We riders are like brothers and sisters.

Owing the early mornin drizzle,we had to delay our cycling start time for 8 to 830am.Thank you Ya Allah the drizzles faded awy into the sun shine. We have great time.

Shady Santai Ride-17/04/2016

Only seven of us came to join Shady Santai Ride. Many of our members had commited to join other rides organised by a few sponsors/ organisors. As a group,we try to make every effort to have our weekly ride. The route changes every time. However, mostly we ride in Putrajaya for safety, comfort and convenience.

These few  weeks we had really hot and sweaty weather. So,to avoid health risks as some of us are not that young anymore,we ride early,go for 20km and back to breakfast by 10am.

I chose the route with more shady trees along the way.By the grace Allah, the weather was cloudy and overcast. We had great time riding. It was a blessed Sunday for seven of us.

Missing in the above photo is the photographer,Maria Shan.Lately,I noticed that her photos are getting better.

SENIOR RIDERS

I am very grateful that I have taken cycling as an active  hobby since 2008 when I for the first time ever cycled more than 20km in my entire life history. Most of my rides were less than 10km.Nowadays cycling is becoming popular every week all over the country. At times,we have too many events but I prefer to cycle with my riding buddies than taking part in big events.

As a senior rider(age more than 60 years old),I have reaped the fruits of my labour from cycling.I am quite fit, energetic, mobile, generally healthy most of the time and having great fun on weekends. What more could I ask when some of my peers are sick and a few cannot walk. Many of my peers who took up cycling more than five years ago are cycling about 20km on weekend. On some week days I go walking twice a week.

Currently, there are only a handful of us senior riders cycling in various cycling groups in Putrajaya. Most riders are in their 30s to 50s.The climb hills and go for  50km in a session. That is too much for me and my peers.

The benefits of cycling are a lot for everyone especially for senior folks like us.We should form our own groups where we live and cycle together every weekend. Why not we become kids again for a day in a week and have fun with our friends and family members. This will do a lot of good for our bodies and souls.

If you live around KL,PJ,Shah Alam,Kajang and nearby areas to Putrajaya,do join us at Putrajaya Cycling Club. From next month April,2016 I will allocate a day in a month for senior riders and guide you along a 10km beautiful route around The Core Island of Putrajaya. We will stop at every 3km for rest and toilet stops.Just bring any bike and a helmet for safety. No cars will disturb us riding.

Remember when we were kids roaming the kampung and the towns on our bicycles?

Happy cycling folks..

KLCFD and Tosai Rawa

It was a very hot Equinox Day.I was sweating even at 8:30am and cycled on 7km.But it was fun as usual and I decided to be a photographer and stopped at a few locations to capture the festive moods of urban dwellers to cycle, walk, run and skating on the streets of KL.

After our routine ride,we decide to explore the city.We plan to venture into unchartered territories around Kg Baru and Chow Kit but due to the heat and we deceided to re-visit Midvalley where the trail is more shady with trees along the Klang River-not forgetting that tosai rawa at Ganaz Restaurant is waiting for us.

To our unpleasant suprise, the cycling trail on the Klang River bank was badly encroached and blocked by construction works nearby. There was zero maintenance and minus two zeros for traffic management.I was pissed off with DBKL management.

Luckily the food and drink at Ganaz Restaurant saved my day.I also brought my riding buddies to enjoy the Little India in KL.-The Colour-Full Brickfilelds.
